Another pleasant journey along a glass like Derwent River to New Norfolk, where we crossed the bridge. The children of the Westerway morning tea stop certainly enjoyed being up and close to the vehicles. It was now time to pass into the somewhat smoky area of Maydena, where fire signs were still evident, and the sound of helicopter still present. The hills to lunch at Scott’s Peak junction were reasonable, and the sight of fire damage quite numbing. Travel after lunch into Strathgordon was indeed the challenge, and many entrants ha to take their time on the very steep sections, also noting that those steep downhills will again be steep uphill on the way out. The lake presented great views, as we travelled alongside to the final destination at the Pedder Wilderness Lodge. Many happy faces were captured on camera as they entered the final destination arms raised and waving
