    Hi Alan
Back in 2016 when we the Wagga Wagga Veteran and Vintage Motor Club visited TAS for your rally we had a good look in your spares shed and purchased a few items.
I had some contact with you about a Lycoming Engine out of an International truck that was in the shed it had been pulled apart, I was wondering if it was still on the shelf ? and if it was could you please do some measuring of 1 of the pistons.
I have 4 questions if you answer for me please
1 What are the pistons made of Aluminium or cast Iron
    2 Piston Diameter
    3 Piston length
4 Is the piston pin in the center of the piston or is it offset to one side
I think I told you I had a Gardner Car with a Lycoming engine in it, you may not remember but when it runs at about 1800 rpm it vibrates bad. The engine has been out twice and all balanced but we have not fixed it.
My original block was cracked so we mixed and matched a International block But I don’t have any of the original pistons that came out of the International block to check measurements with if you could help with that it would be great the measurements don,t have to be to the thou just a vernier will do the main one is if the piston pin is offset

    Hi Ian,
The pistons are Cast Iron in construction. The diameter sizes are 3.836″ and 3.830 respectively. Piston length is 4.131″ and the gudgeon pin would appear to be central. I have sent you a PM to your email address with this information plus a couple of photos.
    regards Alan
